Jennifer Lynn Dresch, 17, was crowned Miss Fulton County 1976 before a cheering audience of more than 800 that packed the Gloversville High School auditorium Saturday night.

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Dresch of Cherryhill, N.J., the GHS senior, who resides at 108 Prospect Avenue, will travel to Olean this summer to compete in the Miss New York State Pageant. If she wins there, Miss Dresch will have the opportunity to participate in the Miss America Pageant later in the year at Atlantic City, N.J.

Miss Dresch will have a longer time to prepare than any of the other local pageant winners in the state traveling to Olean. This was the first local pageant of the year in the state.

First runner-up in a pageant that included special appearances by Tawny Godin, Miss America, and Mary Hinterberger, the current Miss New York State, was Kelli I. Kauffamn, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred V. Kauffman, 13 Brentwood Avenue, and also a senior at GHS.

Under the rules of the pageant, Miss Kauffman will become Miss Fulton County, if for some reason, Miss Dresch cannot fulfill the obligations of her title.

The Miss Congeniality title, voted by the six contestants to the girl who is most helpful to the other girls during the long months of preparation for the event, went to Doreen Vonder Heide, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Vonder Heide, Maple Grove Road, Northville. She is a senior at Northville Central School.

Miss Dresch won a $300 scholarship along with her crown, Miss Kauffman won a $200 scholarship, and Miss Vonder Heide won a scholarship of $100.
