MAYFIELD -- During Tuesday night's meeting of the Mayfield Marine and Merchants Association a letter was approved regarding information on a recommendation by the club to retain a higher water level in Great Sacandaga Lake for a longer period of time in the early fall months.
By retaining water later in the season, it would provide the area with fall beauty, and extend recreation in the Mayfield area. Because of the easy access to the Adirondacks from the Thruway and Route 30, vacationers are given the opportunity to view the lake area to its fullest and enjoy traveling, camping and fishing while the late summer and fall climate is favorable.
Copies of the letter have been mailed to Harold Hochshields, chairman of the Temporary Study Commission on the Future of the Adirondacks, Gov. Rockefeller, Assemblyman Glenn Harris and State Sen. Dalwin Niles.
